This post does not come with a recipe, but I did want to update everyone on what’s going on in my life, because it’s really exciting right now!

First and foremost, Boyfriend has gotten an upgrade…

to Fiance! The photos are a little blurry because he managed to catch myself and our good friends quite off guard.

He proposed while we were in Las Vegas visiting friends that recently moved to Nevada. We were walking from our hotel to dinner under the Eiffel Tower when he stopped us all just outside the restaurant, right under the Eiffel Tower. He started talking about rocks and other things that were completed unrelated to the dinner waiting for us just 20 feet away after spending all day in a museum and walking two miles from our hotel… and I couldn’t figure out what he was doing.

So, I told him if he didn’t stop talking, I was going to punch him in the face.

A few seconds later he pulled out the pretty little jewelry box and I realized what was happening and started crying and it all became a lovely blur and the hanger was forgotten.

We got a few cheers from bystanders, a bottle of champagne from our friends at dinner, and it was wonderful, lovely, and truly perfect.

And my ring is so shiny and sparkly and beautiful and if it were up to me I would just stare at it all the time.

I will likely do some blogging about the wedding planning, so expect a little bit of change in posts!

We’ve got some more exciting news.

Fiance has been accepted to a graduate program at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. It isn’t 100% final yet since we haven’t yet been approved for visas, but we will likely be spending nine months of 2014 in Cape Town.

I am so, so excited for this adventure! It’s been a long time coming. Fiance has applied before (back when he was still “Boyfriend”) but we decided it wasn’t the right move for us at the time. We’ve had a lot of regrets about it since, and decided we’d take the plunge this time around.

What am I going to be doing there while he’s studying?

I’m hoping to spend the majority of my time right here, and working on my blog as I would a full time job.

If you have any travel tips for Cape Town (or hookups for housing…) we would love to hear them! We really want to make the most out of our time there!

And to answer the obvious question, we’ll have the wedding when we get back. Which means I get a full nine months to devote to wedding planning.

Did I mention I’m excited?
