Whisk together all ingredients except the chicken.
Reserve 1/4 cup of the liquid and set aside in the fridge. Add the rest of the marinade to a large Ziploc bag.
Add the chicken breasts to the bag and let marinate for at least three hours, preferably overnight if possible.
If you have a grill, grill the chicken over medium-high heat for 6-8 minutes on each side, basting with the reserved marinade as you flip the chicken.
If you don’t have a grill, bake in an oven preheated to 400 degrees (or 200 degrees Celsius) for about 20 minutes. Broil for for a few minutes to give color, if desired. Add reserved marinade upon serving.
Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving. Suggested side dish: sweet corn!
