Harissa and salmon are such a lovely combination—truly a match made in flavor heaven! This recipe for harissa-glazed baked salmon fillets emerges perfectly fork tender and flaky from the oven after just 10 minutes under the broiler. Serve with a side of crispy roasted potatoes for a simple salmon dinner.
If you poke around a bit, you’ll find plenty of seafood recipes here on this blog, but this one is one of my favorites! Sous vide salmon tends to be my go-to, but occasionally, I love to oven bake it using this recipe for the extra crisp. Speaking of crisp: you must serve this salmon with my Crispy Oven-Baked Potatoes for the ultimate dinner!
What is harissa?
Harissa is a spicy, smoky paste that’s a staple in Middle Eastern and North African cooking. It’s made from spicy peppers, usually smoked, garlic, olive oil, spices like cumin, and sometimes a little lemon.
It’s bright, smoky flavor pairs perfectly with salmon!
My favorite harissa comes from everyone’s favorite grocery store, Trader Joe’s. You’ll find it by the spices and sauces!
How to Make Harissa Glazed Salmon in the Oven
This recipe is really simple and the best salmon dinner idea! There’s nothing we like better around here than an easy baked salmon recipe.
Start by preheating your broiler to low heat. Then, season salmon pieces liberally with kosher salt and drizzle with olive oil. Broil on low for 7 minutes.
While the salmon cooks, mix together harissa and honey in a small bowl.
Remove salmon from the oven and turn broiler to high. Spread the harissa honey mixture on to the salmon pieces. Return to oven and broil for another minute.
If you’re curious about other cooking methods, try sous vide salmon, too!
Squeeze fresh lemon over the salmon and serve! It’s really that simple. I just love baked salmon fillets!

Common Questions
Let the salmon come to room temperature, then transfer to an airtight container and to the refrigerator. Salmon can be stored up to 3 days in the fridge.
The key here is not overcooking your salmon. In fact, err on the side of undercooking it, as it will continue cooking a bit once you pull it out of the oven. Broiling, as done in this recipe, let’s you crisp the top without overcooking!
